2008 is already shaping up to be a good year for Clive Barker buffs, with May seeing the release of MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN and the man himself likely to be unleashing his highly anticipated novel THE SCARLET GOSPELS.
And that’s not all, as the new feature BOOK OF BLOOD is currently underway in Edinburgh, Scotland starring none other than Pinhead himself, Doug Bradley. The film, based upon both “Book of Blood” and “On Jerusalem Street” (both featured in the first volume of Barker’s iconic BOOKS OF BLOOD short-story compendia), is being helmed by John Harrison, best known for his association with George A. Romero on projects ranging from TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE to DIARY OF THE DEAD, from a script he wrote with Darin Silverman.
Harrison tells Fango, “The shoot is going very well, and the cast is all British—although our lead, Sophie Ward [pictured], is playing her part as an American. The male lead is Jonas Armstrong, who is a rising star in the UK; he has previously headlined the BBC series ROBIN HOOD. There could also be a surprise in the works for the character of Wyburd…but more on that later.”
