Fango has heard from the producers of LEFT FOR DEAD, a new slasher opus currently filming in Ontario, Canada. “We began shooting this week, and both our cast and crew feel this project has a lot of potential,” producer Kyle Kovac tells us. “Our cast includes HALLOWEEN 4 and 5’s Danielle Harris [pictured], Boyd Banks [who appeared in both LAND OF THE DEAD and the DAWN OF THE DEAD remake] and Shawn Roberts [also in LAND OF THE DEAD, as well as BLOOD ANGELS and the upcoming SKINWALKERS], just to name a few. LEFT FOR DEAD is basically suspense-filled à la HALLOWEEN, with lots of gore like FRIDAY THE 13TH mixed in with some comedy, similar to RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD, done with a 1980s flair.” The grue quotient will include “an exploding head, corpses, severed hands/body parts, etc.,” Kovac says.
LEFT FOR DEAD is about a fraternity beer run that ends in an accidental death, with the five frat brothers involved vowing never to speak of the incident again. A year later during a Halloween party, however, a mask left behind at the scene of the death begins turning up, and the frat boys begin suffering horrible deaths. The movie is being directed by Christopher Harrison, who previously directed the indie features SIGHT and WHY GIRLS and is also prepping a short film based on Stephen King’s story “The Man Who Loved Flowers.” He and Kovac previously teamed on a number of music videos, including one for actress/singer Ali (FINAL DESTINATION) Larter.
