British filmmaker Simon Cox of StormRider Films dropped Fango a line to let them know about the Brit DVD release of WRITTEN IN BLOOD, a chiller he wrote and directed.
The movie is about a horror author who is haunted by murders that duplicate those in his latest novel, and becomes a suspect in the eyes of the police (whose chief is played by HELLRAISER veteran Doug Bradley). He eventually discovers that the slayings are the work of a long-dead murderer whose spirit has revived in the present day to fulfill a demonic pact that can unleash hell on earth. The movie also stars Grant Masters, Sharon Small, Francis Magee, Gary Beadle and Patrick Robinson.
Cox is currently developing his next feature, THE KALEIDOSCOPE MAN, about an ordinary guy who wakes up on a spaceship and then finds himself on a strange alien planet, where he is plagued by dark visions of people he knows and struggles to get back to Earth. You can see concept art for this project, as well as trailers, photos and more info on WRITTEN IN BLOOD, at the StormRider site linked above, where you can also purchase the WRITTEN DVD and a book containing the film’s script, director’s notes and storyboards/artwork.
The disc includes Cox’s commentary, a UK Horror Channel documentary featuring a Cox interview, deleted scenes, the pilot used to raise WRITTEN’s budget and two of the director’s short films. Profits from the DVD’s sale will be used to help finance KALEIDOSCOPE MAN.
