You may remember last week the big news that the Nightmare on Elm Street series was getting the remake treatment. But sadly it does appear that Robert Englund is no longer appearing as the iconic Freddy Krueger.
Sources close to the project, according to Mania.com, for New Line and Platinum Dunes have sent word to Ryan Rotten that this will be a full restart of the series starting from square one and as such, they want a new actor to play the role (and possible sequels).
The plan is to treat it like their upcoming Friday the 13th, which isn’t really a remake but instead a restart of Jason’s origins. Both production companies will get to work on the script once the WGA strike has been resolved.
