In our opinion this would be a great bit of casting if it comes to fruition but according to the Hollywood Reporter ‘House’ star Hugh Laurie (below) is being lined up to play the villain in the upcoming ‘RoboCop’ reboot. The British actor, who will always be the other half of the fantastic ‘Fry and Laurie’ comedy double act along with Stephen Fry to me, is currently in talks with MGM and Sony to join the Jose Padhila helmed remake to play the role of the CEO of Omnicorp, the company behind the creation of ‘RoboCop’. Joel Kinnaman (‘The Darkest Hour’) is set to play the metallic crime-fighter cyborg, whilst Gary Oldman and Samuel L. Jackson also star. Sexy ‘Sucker Punch’ actress Abbie Cornish (‘Limitless’) is also in talks to join the project to play the wife to Kinnaman’s character. Below you can also check out an early piece of promo artwork featured at the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas courtesy of Coming Soon.
“In a crime-ridden city, a terminally wounded cop returns to the force as a powerful cyborg with submerged memories haunting him.”
‘RoboCop’ is expected to open on 9 August 2013.
