Bummer! It appears that director Mike White has left his directorial responsibilities on the Seth Grahame-Smith adaption of his popular zombie novel ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’. The ‘School of Rock’ writer was due to helm the project but unfortunately he has had to pull out due to other commitments at HBO and the schedules were just not working. So we’re on the search for a replacement! Who do you think would be the best fit to bring this quirky reinterpretation of the Jane Austen classic to the big screen? Word was that Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy are being tapped for the roles of Elizabeth Bennett and Mr Darcy, hopefully this is still the case.
“The story follows the plot of Pride and Prejudice, but places the novel in an alternative universe version of Regency-era England where zombies (and indeed skunks and chipmunks) roam the English countryside. Described as the “stricken”, “sorry stricken”, “undead”, “unmentionables”, or just “zombies”, the deceased ancestors of England are generally viewed by the characters as a troublesome, albeit deadly, nuisance. Their presence alters the original plot of the story in both subtle and significant ways.”
