The Associated Press and other sources have reported that actor Christopher Allport, who appeared in a number of horror films and TV shows, was killed last weekend in a landslide sparked by the recent storms that have lashed Southern California.
Allport was one of two people reported missing from a ski resort in Wrightwood, CA; the other was found alive, but the 60-year-old actor’s body was discovered by searchers, one of three victims claimed by avalanches in the San Gabriel Mountains.
Allport began his career in the early ’70s, and had roles in the 1979 slasher flick SAVAGE WEEKEND, Gary Sherman’s 1981 cult chiller DEAD & BURIED (as the ill-fated Freddie the photographer), Tobe Hooper’s 1986 INVADERS FROM MARS remake, 1996’s killer-snowman opus JACK FROST and its 2000 sequel. He also appeared in genre TV series such as the ’80s TWILIGHT ZONE revival, KINDRED: THE EMBRACED and THE X FILES.
