The delightful Thandie Newton (‘Crash’) is the latest addition to the outstanding cast of HBO’s new adaptation of Michael Crichton’s ‘Westworld’. Newton, who currently stars in DirecTV’s detective series ‘Rogue’, is set to play Maeve Millay, a “beautiful and razor-sharp woman with a genius for reading people and a knack for survival. Maeve is the Westworld madame whose seen-it-all-before worldview is about to be truly challenged.” Interestingly enough ‘Rogue’ was renewed very recently so should we assume that Newton’s part in ‘Westworld’ won’t be a major role but possibly just a brief episode arc? Either that or the gorgeous 41-year old star (below) is upping her workload…You go girl! Newton joins Anthony Hopkins (‘Silence of the Lambs’), Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden (‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’), Jeffrey Wright (‘Source Code’)and more.
Here’s the plot info from Michael Crichton’s original 1973 movie:
“In a near future, the Delos Company offers the vacation of the future in in the amusement parks Medievalworld, Romanworld and Westworld for U$ 1,000 per day. The vacationers get to experience life in the themed period, doing whatever he or she wants, interacting with the robot inhabitants that populate the parks. Peter Martin and John Blane travel by hovercraft to Westworld and soon Peter duels against a Gunslinger. However, when there is a malfunctioning of the machinery, the robots get out of control, jeopardizing the guests.”
