The Radio Point podcast network has just premiered Ruined, a new weekly horror movie comedy podcast hosted by Alison Leiby and Halle Kiefer. And we have to say we absolutely love the premise! Check it out below.
Here’s the premise. Alison is absolutely terrified of horror movies but also dying to know the twist at the end of them (and there’s always a twist), so she usually reads the spoilers online to get all of the info with none of the terror. In fact, Alison is not alone in this practice! Halle, on the other hand, is a horror movie aficionado dating back to childhood. From terrifying classics to modern spooks, she has seen and been scared by them all (except for truly bad horror movies, which are ironically her favorite kind).
Each Ruined episode features Halle giving the play-by-play of a popular, classic and/or extremely trashy horror movie to Alison, with the pair adding their own hilarious commentary, offering their personal insights and, at the end, weighing in on whether scaredy cats can actually watch the movie scream-free or if they are right to skip the scares and head right to the online synopsis.
Binge the first four episodes here and look for new episodes every Tuesday.
Candyman: Every girl’s crazy ‘bout a sharp dressed man. Halle unwraps the original Candyman and the dangers of grad school research before making Alison summon the man himself. Does he appear? Bee sure to listen and find out.
The Ring: A terrifying reminder that we should all try and reduce our screen time. Halle and Alison gag through the horrors of The Ring and Alison finally gets to know early 2000s icon The Girl From The Ring.
The Babadook: If it’s in a word, or it’s in a look, do not read your kid that mysterious book. Halle and Alison welcome The Babadook, and open the door to the scariest horror of all: motherhood.
The Visit: While revisiting (get it?!) M. Night Shyamalan’s return to form The Visit, Alison and Halle finally answer the question, little kids or old people: which are scarier?
