Producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form have confirmed to that the deal to reboot the Freddy Krueger franchise is done. And it will all hopefully kick off it’s shoot next Spring. This deal marks the continued working relationship on the ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ franchise  between Platinum Dunes, Warner Bros. and New Line.

“It’s our next movie,” confirmed Form, “hopefully shooting this spring.”

“It’s like what we’re doing to Friday the 13th,” says Fuller. “It’s not Freddy cracking jokes. We want to make a horrifying movie. The concept is so scary, don’t fall asleep or you’ll die. This guy gets you when you’re most vulnerable, in your sleep. We love that. That’s the basis of the movie. It’ll be most similar to the first one but in terms of kills and dreams we’ll borrow from the entire series.”

Fuller also added that Warner Bros.’ positive response to the ‘Friday the 13th’ redux was extremely helpful in getting the project off the ground.

They have both stated that Robert Englund won’t be back as Freddy but hoping to interest him in a part for the movie. Personally I would tell them to shove it. I think Englund would still be great in the role and even manage to really darken the character again. A new face of Krueger altogether is something that sits a little uncomfortabally in my stomach.

The shoot is expected to take place in the Chicago suburbs.
