Fango first told you that Italy’s Turin Film Commission was preparing to launch a four-film MASTERS OF ITALIAN HORROR series, and now Variety reports that the directors and projects have been settled on. State film entity Istituto Luce and genre veteran Luciano Martino’s Dania Film will co-produce with the commission, with the quartet of movies to be lensed digitally in Piedmont in the Italian Alps. They are:
• HORROR BABY by MAKE THEM DIE SLOWLY’s Umberto Lenzi (pictured), in which a teenaged paraplegic girl goes on a murder spree after seeing people indulging in sex from her window.
• MURDER HOUSE by Lamberto (DEMONS) Bava, a giallo shocker set at a musician’s villa.
• THE CORNERS OF THE NIGHT by Sergio (TORSO) Martino, Luciano’s brother, focusing on a young woman who moves into a house once owned by her dead grandmother, where frightening events ensue.
• BROTHERHOOD by newcomer Nicola Rondolino, about three boys who are kidnapped and killed by a child sex ring and come back as ghosts to seek vengeance.
“For once we won’t be slaves to the sugar-coated tastes of TV audiences,” Lenzi said at a press conference announcing the series, held at Rome’s wax museum. The four fright flicks are scheduled to roll later this year, with a completion date for the whole bunch targeted for next June.
