A couple of new casting announcements have been made for the upcoming MGM and Fox 2000 remake of classic haunted house horror ‘Poltergeist’. Variety and Deadline have each reported a new cast member joining the remake from director Gil Kenan (‘Monster House’). First up ‘Mad Men’ and ‘Fringe’ star Jared Harris (below) has signed up to the project and is set to play the role of Carrigan, “a larger than life TV personality who left the world of academia behind to become the star host of basic cable TV show ‘Haunted House Cleaners'”. In addition to Harris the young actor Kyle Catlett (‘The Following’) has also joined the cast to play a member of the Bowens, the family set to be tormented by those pesky spirits. They’ll be joining both Sam Rockwell (‘Seven Psychopaths’) and Rosemarie DeWitt who will play the mother and father roles.
“In a revisionist take on the classic horror film, a family struggling to make ends meet relocates to an outdated suburban home and is confronted by an angry spirit who kidnaps their youngest daughter and challenges them to band together to rescue her from the clutches of evil.”
