Producer Tony Urban of Crazy Ralph Films gave Fango the word that he’s co-producing a new British horror movie called BLEACH. JB Productions will begin shooting the film on the UK’s Isle of Wight in January, with writer/director Jason Bradbury heading up a filmmaking team that is almost entirely in their late teens. “We can’t see age as an obstacle,” Bradbury says. “Did it prove an obstacle for Sam Raimi and his friends when they made THE EVIL DEAD when they were about our age? Most of the cast and crew are under 20, but this doesn’t mean we don’t have the commitment or skill to make this movie worth watching!”
BLEACH is set at an abandoned factory where a group of youths decide to hold an illegal rave—little knowing that the building serves as home to a deformed maniac (Matthew Fuller) who is obsessed with cleanliness and hates anything dirty—including sex. The cast also includes Laura English, Ivy Mitchell, Josh Winsor Viney, Sarah Nicholls, Kev Amidzadeh, Jesse Gallup and Mariya Takeuchi; Rachel Procter will provide the makeup FX. “Jason contacted me over the Internet and inquired about distribution options,” says Urban of his involvement. “I asked to see the screenplay and fell in love with it. It’s incredibly mean-spirited, gory and intense. This definitely would have ended up on the British ‘Video Nasties’ list if it had been made 20 years ago!” You can find out more about the movie’s progress by checking out “video blogs” at its MySpace page and also at its official website.
