‘The aliens are among us’ or so it seems from those that fear immigration or difference of any kind. “Keep watching the skies” during the original atomic fear is also a tagline in the more subtle version of The Thing From Another World (1951). The Creature Walks Among Us (1956) was an underrated third sequel to the Creature From The Black Lagoon series of films touching on themes of difference, adaptability and wanting to go home. Alien Conspiracies – The Hidden Truth (2023) isn’t an episode of The X-Files television series but a documentary film bringing into focus the idea that Earth has been invaded or influenced by an alien presence.
The cut for commercial breaks film Directed by Steve Lawson with Mark Topping on camera or in voice-over summarizes the theories drawing from the work of Switzerland-born Erich Von Däniken and others. The book Chariots Of The Gods? by Erich Von Däniken and accompanying other volumes were huge best sellers and of course, spawned a film in 1970 of the same name.
Those ideas were that the ancient pyramid, the statues of Easter Island, and Stonehenge were all built with alien assistance or technology. The film also shows us designs on islands that Von Däniken said looked like landing strips for U.F.O.s that can only be seen by the air.
Alien Conspiracies – The Hidden Truth (2023) i has lots of slick footage, and interviews about Area 51 in the Nevada desert which is thought to hold the remains of aliens and crashed interstellar vehicles the government doesn’t want you to see. I have travelled to the desert many times for different reasons and I can say it does look like a giant spider, ant, black scorpion or colossal man will come over the hills to destroy you.
Alien Conspiracies – The Hidden Truth (2023) doesn’t offer anything new but a summary of these conspiracies possible to drive the audience to the original source material of the books. I remember when the research came out and how they would be endlessly debated by my friends and I with loads of lager. These exchanges would usually end with ‘So how do you explain it?’. In the film it is fun to see the footage of the Bermuda Triangle and having the terms Close encounters of the first, second and third kind explained without references to the film Close Encounters Of The Third Kind (1977).
Simple well-crafted fun that resells what we already know or introduces new audiences to the wonders of conspiracy and government control. Like we need more of that. ‘Woke’ people may link this to nefarious schemes however it is simply harmless speculation. The original books will be banned or maybe censored to include fewer ‘racial terms’ and cause memories of hardship in sensitive readers. The film viewing may cause someone to rip the skin off their face and reveal their true appearance. ‘Keep watching the skies’ but don’t trip on your way around your life.
