After an all night party a film reviewer is subjected to watching six friends terrorized by mutated rats. Unable to comprehend what he has just witnessed he passes out…..TWICE. This isn’t the film’s synopsis but in fact the effects the film had on me!
The film’s only good point is it’s opening sequence. After that it quickly falls apart as we are subjected to some of the worst acting, effects work, CGI and editing ever committed to celluloid.
I do not recall one single aspect of the movie which was original. I remember thinking that the composer’s name (Evan Evans) was rather strange, until I heard the score and realised that he in fact must be hiding his identity so as not to be sued by Marco Beltrami as i’m sure they actually lifted the score right from the Scream CD, and if it wasn’t
Evan Evans it must have been one of the other three(that’s right count ’em) composers.
The cast are crap as are the paper thin attempts at characterisation, the
story if you could call it that, defied logic many times and the ‘effects’ are utter tripe. The sound in some scenes is abysmal and as for the man in the rat costume he was about as real and as frightening as breast implants.
I have seen some utter drivel in my time, hell I’ve even seen Camp Blood and it’s sequel, but a horror film has NEVER put me to sleep. Still this one managed to do it twice in the space of minutes.
This tripe uses every student film-makers trick in the book to bad effect and they can’t blame the lack of budget as more talented Directors such as Danny Draven and David DeCoteau produce decent little flicks with very limited budgets. Not to mention that my friends and I have made better films than this with NO budget!
OVERALL SUMMARY
There is no excuse in this day and age to produce such utter garbage when independent films are doing so well at the moment. Perhaps it is meant to be a joke but I certainly wasn’t laughing.
