This German serial killer thriller sees Norman Reedus do a Janet Leigh (sort of) as he attempts to apprehend a scary murderer. Things go disastrously wrong and the suspect escapes in a very impressive opening sequence (talk about body surfing). He is soon caught however and so begins a series of interviews between the culprit (or is he?) and a part-time policeman. What follows is truly thrilling filmmaking….tension is not the word.
The film benefits from a great cast and a very intelligent and ultimately well crafted screenplay. As Michael Martens interviews the killer, the two play mind games with one another until people connected to Martens become involved in what ends up being quite a horrific discovery and a tense climactic half hour or so.
OVERALL SUMMARY
Antibodies, or Antikorper to give it its German title, is a very impressive piece of work that showcases great talent behind and in front of the camera, impressive locations and effects work and a terrifyingly clever resolution. It lasts for two hours and takes its time to build the required level of suspense, but the conclusion is worth the wait.
