Justine Bateman stars as recently single medical student Marty, desperately in need of a roommate. She struggles to pay her bills, feels lonely after her boyfriend left and the final straw comes when her apartment is broken into. In need of some male company she advertises for a roommate and finds the perfect guy in the shape of Phil.
Phil is just leaving when Alec (Adam Baldwin) arrives and tries to persuade Marty to let him move in. She takes an instant shine to him but informs him that Phil has already paid a deposit but says she’ll keep him in mind if things don’t work out.
It is now that we learn Alec is a psycho (something which we are led to suspect in the prologue) and he soon sets about bumping off Phil so that he can move in.
Alec is the perfect roommate until he begins to destroy Marty’s career, relationships and then life.
The film is a routine enough run of the mill The Hand That Rocks the Cradle wannabe and whilst it never comes close to the achievements of its inspiration; it is for the most part an enjoyable little made for TV thriller.
OVERALL SUMMARY
The cast are likeable and do good jobs so if you’ve nothing better to do whilst we have the cold weather; you could do worse than give this a try.
