    Evil Aliens (2005)

Jake West’s sophomore effort was unfairly released to 20 cinemas on the same day as The Hills Have Eyes, but despite the fact it won’t make much of an impact at the box-office, I thought it was excellent.

The film opens rather shockingly with an alien abduction, and becomes ever more graphic as the story progresses. Emily Booth plays Michelle Fox, a sexy reporter on TV show Weird Worlde, who is sent to report on a woman who has been impregnated by aliens in rural Wales.

She sets out with her trusty crew comprised of her bit of rough cameraman, a deaf boom operator (look for his hearing aid in some shots) and a couple of awful actors and a geeky sci-fi fan.

The film is a mad mix of comedy, horror and sci-fi and is non stop gut busting gooey messy action, as the crew of Weird Worlde run into the titular beasties, which makes for some of the funniest things I have ever seen on the big screen.

The effects (for the most part) are well handled despite the low budget, and considering that this includes the acting debuts of the majority of the cast, the performances were really good too.

One of the highlights is a spoof of West’s own previous feature Razor Blade Smile, which is good indication from the outset that nothing is sacred in his quest to out gross and homage the most disgusting movies you have ever seen. The Evil Dead, Brain Dead, Star Trek and many, many more are all spoofed in some of the most hilarious sequences ever to hit the silver screen. I don’t care if you have to drive for two hours, you have to see this on the big screen to believe it.

    OVERALL SUMMARY
The film won’t be to everyone’s taste and it took me a little while to warm up to it, but once I started laughing I cried tears of joy until long after the credits had rolled.
