Henry Thomas stars as Nick Parker in this indie thriller from Lost Boys actor Alex Winter and whilst it’s quite enjoyable it ends up being another one of those weird arty flicks you catch on TV once and never feel the need to see again.
The film focuses on the murder of Nick’s scummy landlord and heads down the well worn path of looking at the creepy residents in order to figure out who the culprit is. It is about this time that Thomas begins displaying signs of mental stress and breaks out in a fever. It will take the help of his disconnected family and friends to unravel the mysterious spate of deaths in his apartment block.
The film looks great and has a solid cast but it’s never exciting nor dull, it merely treads water for the entire duration.
Winter has managed to attract a good cast here and he makes good use of the dingy locations but it feels all too familiar.
OVERALL SUMMARY
Had this been released here when it was first out in 1999, this may have been extra special but too many similar movies have seen the light of day in the intervening years.
