This one made an even better impact on me on DVD as I could fully
appreciate the effort that Director Steve Miner went to to try and propel
the (at that time) potential series forward.
The plot again is simple, a bunch of youths set up camp for summer season 5 years later in the same area as Camp Crystal lake, and again despite
repeated warnings decide to carry on, and regret it.
Interestingly this film, as far as I can remember anyway, was the first time the heroine from an original film returned in the sequel to do a
‘Janet Leigh’.
This time around I did feel more afraid for our heroine as she was up against the real deal, and the sack over his head made him very scary
looking indeed!!
Very gory and with a few good scares, this film seems to have aged
slightly better than the original.
OVERALL SUMMARY
Retaining the spirit of the original but providing more of the good stuff
(i.e. bums, boobs and bloodshed) worked really well, as this film is
actually very good.
