Tom throws a party to welcome Michelle to town and her new life at college. The group discuss their lives and eventually conversation turns to their paranoias and fears. Tom tells the group to leave his house and return in exactly one hour so that he can show them his deepest darkest fear.
The group return an hour later only to find that Tom has disappeared. One by one as they begin to look for Tom the kids are picked off by someone wearing a hag mask.
This film is a very weird one. Shot on video in 1999 for the home video market, it runs a mere 58 minutes and information on it and it’s makers is almost totally unavailable.
The film may be poor quality, but there is no doubt that this was an excercise to prove that they could make a movie and get it distributed, probably due to the fact that they were tired watching the crap that is out there.
The film actually freaks me out a little, because you are never sure exactly what is going on, and the hag mask terrifies me thanks to ‘The Shining’ and a joke that was played on me when I was younger, with an identical mask.
The film was obviously well thought out and is competently shot and handled, making it strangely compelling.
OVERALL SUMMARY
In the end, this is not the most original film you will ever see but it deserves credit for being released right at the beginning of the low budget horror boom and for trying to do something different.
