    Murder at Midnight (1994)

This has to be the most hilariously bad ‘horror’ movie I have ever seen! The tagline reads ‘At the stroke of midnight, this princess turns into a psychotic killer’. The blurb tells of a ‘charge into the night to catch LA’s most violent and dangerous criminal’ and yet we are treated to an over the top display of bad acting, bad hair and a crazy lady that kills you with a poisioned hanky!!

From the moment I heard the soft core porn music begin, I wondered if this was indeed a horror movie at all, and soon realised that it was not. The so-called ‘Midnight Killer’ attacks in the middle of the day, she slaps a wig and a different colour of lippy on and evades detectives. She lingers at the crime scene to ‘ave a glass of wota’ and talk shop with the cops. She has monologues aplenty before rocking back and forth singing to herself in a baby voice, and even threatens to kill if a detective she likes doesn’t get put back on the case.

She jumps men, she fools you with scraps of paper and a generic shirt or overalls, she fakes asthma and she even manages to fool the only eye witness into leaving a bar with her, thanks to a bit of blusher and a new wig.

This film is hilarious, and the majority of the parties involved have all worked on well respected movies like ‘Good Morning, Vietnam’, ‘Lethal Weapon 2’, ‘Malcolm X’, ‘Back to the Future Part II’ and the recent ‘Bubba Ho-tep’ so I cannot imagine why they would be seen slumming it in this trash, using their real names and everything.

    OVERALL SUMMARY
Absolutely hilarious. I picked this up for a quid in a bargain bin, and it’s the most fun I’ve had in ages, but as a horror movie it is truly atrocious, not to mention highly stereotypical and quite racist.
