The prequel to ‘Ringu’ is regarded as, well lets face it tosh by everyone I know that has seen it here in the UK.
After much consideration, I watched it and whilst it was no way near as good as any of the ring films, it was not as bad as I had heard.
Basically, the film recounts Sadako’s life before she became what she is now – an evil entity out for revenge.
Interesting in that it shows us the reasoning behind her murderous streak, the film is a little slow and has none of the atmosphere present elsewhere in the series.
There are a few moments of freakishness but not enough to give you a chill.
The whole affair is competently handeled by all concerned, and has an excellent song to look forward to at the end of it.
OVERALL SUMMARY
A film that die-hard Ring fans will perhaps enjoy, but not for those expecting more terrifying sleepless nights.
