    Scary Movie (2000)

By Phil Davies Brown on August 6, 2003 Reviews

This horror comedy takes the plot of ‘Scream’ and ‘I Know What You Did
Last Summer’ and combines them to make a really great spoof of the genre.

The opening sequence is so cleverly handled that it turns one of the
scariest scenes in horror history into one of the funniest scenes in film
history. The cast are all familiar and really suffer for their art as
they are required to partake in some of the most vulgar things you have
    ever seen.

I liked the fact that the Wayans brothers did their research and used
their common sense in approaching the subject, as they actually make the
characters do things that even the dumbest of ‘s slasher victims would
never do and therefore they made the genre’s faults appear funny rather
    than stupid.

The only weak points are the scenes that are carbon copies of scenes from
‘Scream’ as they were quite frankly boring and showed a lack of effort on
the Wayans part. Although the humour is largely vulgar it has to be said
that the script does show it’s fair share of wit too.

    OVERALL SUMMARY
Though there are few to choose from this has to be the funniest horror
    spoof ever.
