Julianne Moore is great in this psychological horror thriller about a mother who is trying to cope with the death of her son.
It has been over a year since the event, but as Telly clings to the memory of her son she finds that people are trying to make her forget, and things take a turn for the worse when she discovers that her son has been erased from everyone’s memories.
Director Joseph Ruben manages to create a beautifully haunting film thanks to wonderfully slick visuals, a sombre tone, gorgeous aerial work and some extremely well handled effects sequences.
The cast are all wonderful, but the film is carried by Moore and Dominic West who create sympathetic characters that we truly care for.
The film also managed to be quite different to anything that recent memory brings to mind, which was highly refreshing at a time of year when the leftovers are being rushed into cinemas and video stores.
OVERALL SUMMARY
A well crafted and engaging film that has a few shocks up it’s sleeve. The Forgotten is sure to entertain and make you think about things on long dark winter nights.
