David DeCoteau tried something slightly different with his teen take on the supernatural sub-genre, and it was enjoyable if not radically different.
Corey and his mum have recently moved to a new town for a fresh start. Corey just wants to keep his head down and do well, but the jocks have their eye on Corey and the freaks get him caught up in something sinister, which all ends in a suitable conclusion.
The film is classic DeCoteau; boys in their undies, sexy girls, those sunny locations, flash effects and editing, and an appearance from the one and only Brinke Stevens.
Fans of DeCoteau’s films will no doubt find this enjoyable, as it continued the style and themes of his more recent movies, but I have to say that I’m looking forward to seeing his upcoming projects, as they promise to be a little different.
The cast are all good and familiar amongst low budget horror fans, and the story was a little different to the Brotherhood trilogy so it was a decent watch.
OVERALL SUMMARY
David always makes an enjoyable film, even if they are very similar, but fans of his work and indeed the genre should find enough here to satisfy their horror hunger.
