This low budget horror film which riffs heavily on ‘Vacancy’ looks as though it had incredibly high production values but for all of its gloss there’s some substance lacking.
A group of 7 friends on a road trip to Las Vegas get 2 flat tyres and are forced to head to the nearest motel for help (stop me if you’ve heard this before). Once there the gang are given free drinks, food hotel rooms and the owner even offers to tow and repair their car for free – the catch? They awaken the next morning to find themselves bound and gagged all because they asked for a little help.
The film looks good and has some decent effects work, but the characters are all a bunch of idiots! The main guy himself proclaims that they are ‘so stupid’. Once they figure out what’s going on one of the girls makes one good decision but the survivors spend the entire climax making loser moves – the kind which leaves you hoping they all die because they deserve to!
OVERALL SUMMARY
I lost I.Q. points watching this largely implausible torture flick and it borrows far too much from better movies such as ‘The Hitcher’ but it’s fast paced, slick and doesn’t outstay it’s welcome.
