The Legend of Lucy Keyes (2006)

Julie Delpy and Justin Theroux star as Jeanne and Guy Cooley who move to rural New England after the death of their son with their two daughters Molly and Lucy, unaware that some 250 years ago, the previous occupant’s daughter (also named Lucy) disappeared. The Cooley’s receive a frosty reception from the townspeople and it soon appears that the residents are trying to make life difficult for the Cooley’s, or is something far more sinister at play?

The film looks really fresh and has a very likeable cast but it’s not as scary as one would hope, in fact it’s more of a spooky drama than a ghostly thriller or horror movie. That being said, the film is an enjoyable enough time waster for a rainy night.

The cast are good here and it was great to see Jamie Donnelly (brusha, brusha, brusha…) back on screen.

    OVERALL SUMMARY
The Legend of Lucy Keyes is similar to An American Haunting but isn’t nearly as scary. This is worth a rent but I wouldn’t run out and buy it.
