This gory slasher from Director Joseph Zito, opens with a touching letter
from the titular lady to her lover, being read aloud. In it she explains
as kindly as possible that she can no longer wait for him to return from
the war.
Obviously he receives the letter as poor Rosemary is soon found during the
graduation dance pinned to her new beau via a huge pitchfork!!
35 years later, school reporter Pam submits an article about the anonymous
killer who was never caught and soon he is stalking Pam and her friends.
The main problem I had with this film is that it has all been done before.
This film brings absolutely nothing new with it and in the end it is
entirely redundant. Why did the killer feel the need to slaughter a group
of teens? The motive which is not fully explained makes no sense!
As always, Tom Savini’s fabulous creations add a lot to the horror of it
all but it is the same old same old, as the competent cast run around
disrobing, skinny dipping and doing everything wrong. Perhaps the
‘Scream’ generation of movies has left me expecting more smart female
characters because this was quite disappointing.
OVERALL SUMMARY
Worth a watch, but post ‘Scream’ this leaves a lot to be desired.
