This produced for DVD feature made its UK debut on Zone Horror last Friday, and it was pleasantly enjoyable.
Lochlyn Munro stars as a doctor who has turned his back on the medical profession in hope of becoming a writer. He has bought a rural property and has refurbished it into a country inn for some income. His girlfriend Darcy and her daughter Pamela come down to visit, just as a few guests begin to arrive. Pamela finds another young girl playing in the barn named Emma. Emma tells Pamela about The Tooth Fairy, a wicked old woman who kills children once their last baby tooth falls out. The old witch was so devious that she even used to trick kids into pulling their last tooth out by promising them toys and even new bikes.
Pamela is cycling back to the inn when a cloaked figure leaps out of the bushes, knocking her off her bike. As Pamela gets up she realizes that her last baby tooth has fallen out in the accident. It’s a race against time as the tooth fairy tries to get her hands on Pamela’s tooth, killing anyone who gets in the way.
The film created some mild controversy with the whole ‘Darkness Falls done right’ thing during production, and whilst I personally prefer Darkness Falls, this was still a good little movie.
TTF has a great cast of familiar genre faces, great effects work, gory death scenes featuring wood chippers, decapitations, axe wounds and even an appearance from P.J. Soles. What more could a horror fan want from a straight to DVD flick?
OVERALL SUMMARY
The Tooth Fairy has some really gruesome stuff present, as well as two of the funniest, badass rednecks ever seen in a low budget horror movie. If you’re after laughs and gore check this out.
