Ron Jeremy stars in this fun little fright flick which is out in time for Halloween from the UK based Screen Entertainment’s Hard Gore genre label.
The film sees a group of youngsters drive out to a haunted house which was used as the main location for a low budget horror movie. At the same time two grave robbers dig up a suspiciously fresh looking corpse in order to steal an amulet which is buried along with it. The moment the grave robbers remove the amulet the corpse becomes animated and a whole host of vampire-like zombie creatures rise from their graves. It doesn’t take a genius to predict that the kids soon find themselves holed up in the haunted house with the two grave robbers, as they try to survive countless attacks from the ghoulish creatures.
This film was a lot of fun and surprisingly refreshing thanks to its fun angle on derivative material. The cast are mostly likeable even though they have the tendency to overact and make stupid jokes, but there’s enough gore, whores and cheap gags to keep you mildly entertained for ninety minutes.
OVERALL SUMMARY
I hadn’t heard good things about this movie but it is coming up for Halloween and this film captured the essence of a good old fashioned fun Halloween popcorn movie. It’s full of glaring technical errors but I can appreciate what the filmmakers set out to achieve and they obviously put in a lot of hard graft so go on, support independent horror this Halloween and give this a rent.
