This low budget British movie which makes its DVD debut courtesy of Screen Entertainment may be ambitious, but that alone is not enough to make it stand out.
The plot sees a group of five well balanced strangers agree to have chips implanted into their bodies and spend an extended period of time in a house. The chips allow them to control reality which is fun at first, until they discover that one of the participants isn’t who he or she claims to be.
The film has an interesting premise and a good script full of some genuinely funny dialogue, but it suffers the same fate as a lot of other micro budget horror movies, mainly poor technical craftsmanship.
I don’t mean to be rude, as it’s not the only film ever to have committed the same sins but I couldn’t get past the sound and lighting problems, which made some colours look off and had me struggling to hear what was happening.
The cast are quite likeable but in the end it’s all the same old stuff you’ve seen countless times before. The enthusiasm of the cast and crew as well as the resourcefulness and energy of the same parties makes it just that little bit different and does demonstrate that Jinx Media and director Pat Higgins will get better with every subsequent production, which I hope they continue to make.
OVERALL SUMMARY
It’s not the most original film I’ve ever seen but it’s great to see some people working away on low budget British movies, so please support these guys and give them the chance to grow.
