This third film inspired by John Carpenter’s original, sees a young man caught in a war between good vampires, bad vampires and vampire slayers, as he tries to find his girlfriend who has been kidnapped by the leader of the bad vamps.
The cast are all attractive and some of them are even familiar, but what makes this better than the usual DTV horror flick is the high gloss, nice stunt and effects work, a little bit of Eastern culture and some new mythology.
The film further benefits from nice aesthetics, some cool editing tricks, well executed stunts and even some surprisingly good CG for a modestly budgeted film.
You never really get to know the characters as they don’t really have much to do, but the frantic pace and action packed set pieces ensure that the film is finished before you have much time to question plot points or become tired of the same vamp shenanigans.
OVERALL SUMMARY
There are a few nice little nods to the other films and a nicely composed Eastern score highlights the action. A decent enough film but not as good as the previous film in the series.
