For my 200th film review, I had the pleasure of watching a little known horror movie about a group of role playing students trapped in a medical research building with a crazed baboon called Shakma.
The film was a little slow to start with but once the characters began playing ‘The Game’ the film picked up and it made for a surprisingly fun and watchable film.
The cast consisted of genre vet Roddy McDowall, Christopher Atkins and Amanda Wyss who was of course the first person to be killed by Freddy Krueger in that memorable first death in the series.
The cast were likeable and there were some moments of tension, but I felt that the movie was far too long for a film of this nature, and the ending left a sour taste as well.
OVERALL SUMMARY
You’ll probably assume that Shakma is a dumb and cheesy creature run amok film, but give it a chance and you might actually be surprised.
