Whilst I am not adverse to new things, I’m afraid to report that this dramatic horror movie failed to make much of an impact.
When John and Jennifer breakdown in the woods, John is attacked and bitten by what they had assumed to be a corpse. John slowly begins to change as the couple try to survive their terrifying ordeal.
The film started out really well, with good conversation and a pretty funny joke that actually made me chuckle.
I was interested to see how the filmmaker would pull off a story with only two main characters in limited locations, and it was pleasantly enjoyable until the kids made it to an abandoned cabin.
The film then went downhill as they talked and talked and talked, and even talked in their heads. I’m all for a strong message but absolutely nothing happened for the rest of the movie. I can’t recall the last time I contemplated hitting fast forward but I did here.
It seems to me that the filmmakers and cast are all very capable, but for whatever reason the project just didn’t come together as well as they had hoped.
OVERALL SUMMARY
A nice idea, but a poorly executed one. Many people have called this a ‘Cabin Fever’ rip off, but I probabaly would have enjoyed it more if it had been.
