Tara Reid’s latest horror effort has to be the slowest, dullest, bore fest I’ve seen in ages.
Reid stars as Jay; a top heavy medical student who breaks into a remote underground medical lab after a car accident, which if you read the blurb occurs in the dead of night but actually happens in broad daylight. Jay abseils into the building through a skylight with her friends, but when the rope snaps they are left trapped in the underground bunker with a scientist who has gone whacko and a comatose test subject known as The Sleeper. When you sleep, The Sleeper gets into your head and makes you kill for him, so the gang tries to escape before they nod off (and who could blame them…I almost did).
The film looks nice enough and Reid does okay with her role I suppose, but the film is just bland. There’s lots of running around dark corridors by torch light and flickery lights but it’s all been done before.
OVERALL SUMMARY
Incubus is notable only for being the first ever horror film to be released exclusively as an internet download via AOL red on October 31st 2006. Rent…don’t buy…unless you’re a completist or a mug…like me.
