So much hype about Megan Fox. Sure she is pretty hot, and always gets caught in some pose bent over something. Not that I'm complaining, its just that there are way better choices for the roles she gets I think. But, I'm very interested in watching this movie. I heard so many good things about it. Maybe I can gain a real appreciation for Megan Fox in the horror genre. Who knows.

Jennifer's Body starts off with a flash forward of our co-star Amanda Seyfried. She plays Jennifer's BFF, Anita or Needy. It seems Needy went through one hell of a time. As she narrates her stay at the mental hospital you see scars all over her body. Pictures of loved ones and all the meds she is on. Must have learned a few moves too, because she kicks a nurse in the mouth and damn near takes her head off. Landing her in isolation, we now flashback to the beginning of our story.

It starts off pretty quick. They really emphasize Jennifer's cheerleader-popular-hot chick style. I suppose that was to make Needy come off as more of a nerd. But, they both make a pretty good impression when they hit the bar for a little flirting, dancing, and drinking. Well, for Jennifer anyway. She makes a big hit. Especially with the lead singer of the half goth looking band that seems really out of their element in this small town bar. Adam Brody plays the role of Nikolai. I didn't even recognize him at first with the eye liner. Far from his childish rich boy role in now canceled series The O.C. Doesn't take much to know that something is very wrong with this guy, aside from the eye liner. He instantly takes a liking to Jennifer. Against her friend Needy's warnings of having bad a bad feeling about this guy, Jennifer starts to become hypnotized by him. Doesn't even phase her when the fire in the bar mysteriously starts and progresses until the whole place is an inferno and people are running for their lives. After barely escaping, Nikolai casually strolls over to them, drink in hand very determined to get Jennifer into his van. Not a very hard task considering she still isn't with it. But, she reassures Needy that she is fine and she wants to go. When she returns, she shows up covered in blood at the house of her best friend. Jennifer isn't Jennifer anymore. On the outside, maybe. But, on the inside she pulls high definition Exorcist all over Needy's house. She is something evil now, and soon, the two BFFs will have even less in common as Jennifer's taste for human blood and classmates starts to drive a wedge between their lifelong friendship.

I can't tell if this movie was trying to take itself serious or not. It didn't really come off as a horror movie. There just was not enough horror in it for me. I almost thought there was more comedy than killing, and there wasn't a whole lot of comedy either. Don't get me wrong, I like a little laugh here and there when watching people get ripped apart, but there just didn't seem to be enough. Usually these movies are filled with disposable characters. I sure hope they weren't trying to focus on Megan as an actress. Because it would really suck if this movie was made half ass just to bank on Megan. I do think that there are a lot of people out there that will get this movie just because of her. And, those people are going to love the movie. Say its the best horror of the year. Megan Fox at her best. Shit like that.

I can really see why this movie didn't get a theatrical release. It was kind of boring. There wasn't a whole lot to it. Very predictable and drags out a little too much. It had a lot more potential to be something that I would like. The acting was pretty good, the special effects where good, and I think the movie was made very well overall. I guess I was just expecting so much out of this that it didn't live up to my expectations, and that's probably why I was so disappointed with it. For a demonic blood thirsty teen movie. I was really expecting a little more action. However, Jennifer's seduction of Needy was a pretty good scene. I really didn't see that one coming. Make sure you rent this movie instead of buying it first. I hope Megan Fox never does another horror movie again. I really wanted to like this movie. I finished watching it, and I didn't hate it, so I'll give it a 2 out of 5.
