The fact that this fifth entry into the ‘Silent Night Deadly Night’ franchise is Directed by Quentin Tarantino’s script supervisior of choice doesn’t mean that this will be any good.
The film centres on Joe Petto (Mickey Rooney paying the bills) a friendly old toymaker who is down on his luck and thought to be making killer toys.
When the Quinn family cross paths with The Toymaker and his strange son Pino, things take a nasty turn at Christmas time.
The film looks good but is really just a silly live action horror version of Pinnochio that is blatantly predictable from start to finish.
After watching this I felt that it was more like a family drama than a horror sequel.
OVERALL SUMMARY
I have only seen the first and last chapters of this series so cannot comment on how it fits into the series overall, but the fact that we have’nt had a sequel since is perhaps a bit of a clue.
