Fango got word that a new film about the Charles Manson murders called THE DEVIL EXISTS will begin shooting early next year for release at Halloween 2008. The debut feature of MJD Films (whose previous project, somewhat incongruously, was the Pope John Paul II documentary SEED OF FAITH!), it was originally scripted by company president Roy A. Sciacca, and is currently undergoing rewrites. “Today’s horror films are great,” Sciacca says, “but they’re based around too much fantasy. What truly made a classic thriller was the amount of reality present. We plan to bring back a dose of reality to the horror genre.” To assist in that department, THE DEVIL EXISTS will incorporate actual, previously lost footage of Manson and his followers into the film. A director and cast have yet to be announced; we’ll keep you informed.
