If anyone watched the third season of “Project Greenlight” when it aired on Bravo last year, they’ll remember that Wes Craven was brought in to help the creators narrow down what script and director they were going to use. Craven didn’t like Feast, the script, but did like John Gulager, the director. Recently he talked to IGN Filmforce and let them know that he thinks it all turned out for the best.
“It actually turned out pretty well and it ended up with everybody thinking, ‘By God, John really knows what he’s doing.’ He pulled it off. Absolutely. He did a real, real good job…The monsters are a little silly because they had no money, so obviously they can’t show them for very long, but the film itself is a romp; a very bloody, goofy, scary one.”
The horror vet went on to say he wishes the movie were able to come out now, in the ideal time slot for a horror film, but the Miramax/Disney war made sure that didn’t happen. Originally set for a January release date, Feast was recently shown to have been removed from The Weinstein Company’s slate all together, so as of now there’s no word on when it’ll be out. Stay tuned here for the news when it comes down!
