With such a stinky title I really should have known what I was getting myself into, but Blockbuster video were footing the bill, so at least I didn’t have to pay to see it.
The film centres on a bunch of stereotypical black youths who find themselves targeted by a killer who interestingly enough wears a white mask. (Although that’s probably just my sociology degree making me assume there’s an underlying theme there)
Despite being competently shot and even slightly well acted on some accounts, the film bored me to tears and had me reaching for the fast forward button on more than one occasion. At one point I even made up my own dialogue and was shocked to learn that I had predicted the entire three scenes I had just skimmed through.
The film was shockinly offensive, with the dreaded N word being used about a hundred times in the first half hour alone, and conflict over stereotypical behaviour and attitudes.
OVERALL SUMMARY
Described as ‘Urban Legend’ meets ‘Boyz N’ the Hood’, this might have been a good film if it didn’t have any horror genre connections. Then again it might have just ended up a DTV remake of the latter film.
