    Darkwalker (2003)

    0
By Phil Davies Brown on January 9, 2004 Reviews

I was quite worried about reviewing this film as regular readers will no doubt know that the Director is an accquaintance of mine.

I spent nights contemplating selling out by giving it a good review if it sucked but praying that it wouldn’t.

In the end I decided that I am entitled to my own opinion and you all know I’m not afraid to give it, (Urban Massacre anyone?) so I decided that if
the film sucked, I wouldn’t do myself or Danny the disservice of lying to
    save face.

Thankfully, the film really impressed me!!

Knowing the story behind the production, (the project came about as a result of a dare) I knew this wouldn’t be up for any Oscars, but once
again Danny Draven has created an accomplished piece of work.

Obviously, there are similarities between this and ‘Pumpkinhead’ in terms of story and villain, but the idea of setting it in a horror themed
attraction was quite novel (and good for budget reasons too).

The cast were surprisingly very good, especially the female owner and some of the girls.

Danny Draven excells in the technical aspects of filmmaking and I must say that the sound design was of the highest standard, along with the editing
and score by Danny’s wife Josephine.

The film also had a welcome amount of blood and gruesome kills which is a rareity these days.

Of course there is the odd moment of falseness or bad lighting which is to be expected in low budget films, but these do not hinder the overall
    effect of the movie.

My only pet peev was the very abrupt ending. Just when you think there’s more to learn, it ends ‘Lord of the Rings’ style. Unfortunately this is
not an epic novel, but if you watch the credits you can see ‘Darkwalker 2
coming soon’ right at the tail end.

    OVERALL SUMMARY
This scary little fright fest leaves you wanting a resoloution, and
    quickly!!
