Re-released last October, Demontown is actually three episodes of Kevin Williamson’s cancelled TV show ‘Glory Days’.
The premise saw best selling author Mike Dolan return home in the hopes of overcoming his writers block. His hit novel ‘Glory Days’ was based on his experiences growing up on the island of Glory but unfortunately for Mike, the residents meet him with a frosty reception as his book apparently revealed exactly what he thought of them.
The residents of the normally quiet island of Glory are in for many more shocks however, as a number of murders and strange occurences start to happen before Mike even reaches shore.
This DVD comprises the pilot episode, the season finale and the penultimate episode in that order, and whilst it was certainly enjoyable and made me wish that there had been a run of the show here in the UK, it also annoyed me as it was poorly edited together and left about a thousand unanswered questions.
The episodes deal with a deadly game, a killer clown and a psycho who likes to drown his or her victims. The cast are all familiar and likeable, and the themes present throughout feel like Kevin Williamson, but the show is by no means his best work.
OVERALL SUMMARY
It’s a shame that fans of Williamson’s work never got a chance to see the show here in the UK, as it only lasted nine episodes, so it would not have been a huge inconvenience for one of our networks to snap it up.
