I was stoked for this (I dug the trailer), so I couldn’t believe my luck when it was released here in the UK on July 28th (mainly because the film is set the night before Halloween, so I expected to get it later in the year). I wasn’t disappointed. I really liked this film.
Emily (Noell Coet) has suffered from psychosomatic blindness since a car accident claimed the life of her mother. Whilst she may be comfortable in her own environment, she didn’t plan on having to survive a home invasion from a psychopath.
This is a film that knows how to milk it’s concept for all it’s worth. The cast were really good, the setting, direction, photography, effects and set-pieces were all used to maximum effect and I also found it quite creepy.
I was slightly disappointed by the ending, as I was left with a lot of unanswered questions, but I think they wanted to go the Michael Myers route and leave the killer’s backstory ambiguous, so I can live with that. I just hope we get a sequel.
OVERALL SUMMARY
If you’ve previously enjoyed films such as Blind Terror a.k.a See No Evil with Mia Farrow or Wait Until Dark with Audrey Hepburn and you want to see the concept taken to the next level, then this is the film for you. I hope you enjoy it too.
