Sean Bean and Maria Bello star as James and Adele, a couple who have separated yet try to remain friends for the sake of their young daughter Sarah. When Sarah and Adele travel to Wales to visit James, the couple seem to be getting on well before Sarah disappears from the beach near her father’s cottage. As Adele tries to cope with her guilt, she begins to see a young girl hanging around named Ebrill. Adele soon discovers the concept of Annwyn and with some persuasion pushes handyman Dafydd to reveal the tale of the shepherd; a man who talked the entire village into jumping off the cliffs so that his daughter could be brought back from the dead.
As Adele continues to explore the myth and her search for Sarah, all sorts of creepy shit goes down, most of it involving sheep.
The film starts off well enough and to be honest is enjoyable to watch throughout thanks to some creepy locations, a woozy feeling every time someone goes near the edge of a cliff, and copious amounts of scary sheep!
OVERALL SUMMARY
John Fawcett handles the whole thing admirably and it was nice to see him tackle a different and more adult oriented horror film. The film is a bit of a slow burner, which is fine, but is ultimately ruined by too many endings and little or no resolution.
