    The Unsaid (2001)

Friday the 13th part 6 helmer Tom McLoughlin, makes this ‘psychiatrist’s crazy patient escapes and terrorises his doctors family’ thriller, into a really well made and at times tense film with twists and turns that will undoubtedly shock viewers, whilst managing to show lots of heart and soul at the same time.

Andy Garcia plays doctor Michael Hunter, who stops practicing due to extreme feelings of guilt after the death of his son. Michael is contacted by a former student who needs his help with one of her patients. Michael agrees to help her as a favour, but finds himself caught up in a chilling situation when the boy begins to mess with his family, and his head.

This film has gone unnoticed since it’s release, but is a very well made and excellently acted piece of work, that keeps you intrigued despite it’s slow pace and complex story.

The film looks beautiful and has many twists and turns that play on your knowledge of the genre, whilst managing to shock you with it’s sombre conclusion.

The film could easily have been a Movie of the Week in lesser hands, but the cast and director definitely elevate the material, putting in fine performances.

    OVERALL SUMMARY
Although The Unsaid is technically not a horror film, it’s subject matter will horrify sensitive viewers, and many of the cast and crew will be familiar to genre fans as they have some high profile horror works behind them.
