    Wishcraft (2002)

By Phil Davies Brown on February 29, 2004 Reviews

This film which was released here in the UK before the US, is a weird sort of horror / comedy / romance hybrid.

Brett Bumpers ( I know he’s supposed to be a geek but come on) receives a totem in the post that will grant it’s recipient 3 wishes….OK so far so Wishmaster.

Where this film differs is that it takes time to establish character relationships before bumping people off.

The deaths were novel, the cast, aesthetics, sets and look of the killer were all very good, but it was too slow for my liking. It needed more scares and a couple more deaths or even the odd chase scene.

Also there are huge loopholes concerning the wishes which could not be overlooked, as they are a main focus of the climax, by which point the film has long been lost to typical conventions of the genre.

    OVERALL SUMMARY
Director Danny Graves did a nice job here with a great cast. If only it had a little more tension or excitement it would have been excellent.
