This fourth film in the series was released just as Freddy hit his peak, making it the most successful movie in the series.
The premise sees survivors of part three Kristen (this time played by Tuesday Knight), Joey and Kincaid once again faced with the prospect of dying in their dreams.
Freddy who has now disposed of all but three of the Elm Street kids, tricks Kristen into bringing him some fresh meat in the form of the shy and awkward Alice, and the carnage continues.
This film took the dream sequences to a new high with plenty imaginative death scenes and a nice little character arc for our heroine. I also liked the fact that Alice was a daydreamer, and this is how Freddy got to his intended victims.
Freddy did begin to become a little too funny here, but there were always moments tinged with terror, when he would stop laughing and get down to some serious slaughter.
People with asthma and a fear of cockroaches will undoubtedly be far more affected than those whose don’t suffer from either condition, but you’ll still have fun with it.
OVERALL SUMMARY
A welcome addition to the series goes all out on effects and hits its peak in the process.
