Devin Hamilton made his mark in the low budget horror genre with this tale of a prank gone wrong and it was a fine debut.
The excellent Debbie Rochon plays Maddy, a young woman trying to settle into a new area and a new job who suddenly finds herself in a lot of trouble after attending a party with her boss Shawn.
Secrets are revealed and a prank is played on one guest resulting in a series of vicious murders.
You can see the direction Devin Hamilton was going to take with his films from this, and whilst each of his films has so far been better than the last, this is still a solid film.
The dialogue is a little cheesy in places and some of the character motivations and sub plots are a little silly, but the film delivers on gore and nudity and has a great cast of genre regulars including Brinke Stevens and Lloyd Kaufman as Maddy’s parents, and nice cameos from Julie and Lizzy Strain too.
Devin Hamilton’s films are always fun and filled with familiar and likeable faces. This first effort may have a less likeable story than his successive efforts, but it was still a decent watch and a sign of things to come.
