Joe Castro follows up the fun slasher flick ‘Maniacal’ with this, a tale about a team of paranormal investigators who travel to a mansion once occupied by famed German Director Willie Von Brahm, in order to prove the usual type of urban legend associated with an old building.
The cast are mostly good with the exception of Joe Haggerty who always has to ham it up, and I can’t quite put my finger on it but Perrine Moore was grating here for some reason, which surprised me as she was good in Maniacal.
The highlight of the film is it’s gore effects which are also handled by Director Castro, who has provided wonderfully executed and brilliantly realised gore effects for many of the genre’s recent efforts.
The film’s story is nothing to get too excited about, but I was expecting a far greater body count.
OVERALL SUMMARY
A nice attempt at a different type of genre film. If you’re sick of watching low budget slasher flicks you should check this out, it’s quite good for what it is and I’m certainly looking forward to seeing Castro’s future efforts.
